20th Century French Wind Trios
Music Selections by Noel-Gallon, Eugene Bozza, Marius Constant, Pierre Wissmer, and Jeanine Rueff.
"During our recital preparations of the works included on this CD we attempted to obtain recordings for study purposes. However, we repeatedly came up empty handed. It was more obvious than ever that the body of recorded works for reed trio was lacking. To our knowledge, only Constance's Trio for Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon has been previously recorded. Interestingly, many of the featured composers have won prestigious awards, such as the Grand Prix de Rome, the Enesco Prize, the Koussevitsky Prize, and the premiers prix from the Paris Conservatoire. Yet, with the exception of Bozza, very few people are familiar with these composers, their accomplishments and their music. TreVent hopes that this recording project will provide a second look at these talented composers, introduce new repertoire, and expand the reed trio's currently scant aural library."
